Every September, I meet with F&B Directors who are scrambling to create their 2024 Entertainment Budget. At resorts that offer guests unique and personalized experiences, entertainment is a critical component, and it is important for the F&B Director to make sure the budget allows the hotel to procure the best local musicians and DJs, at exactly the fair market rate (not too high, not too low). In addition, entertainment for every special holiday must be budgeted, and the market rates vary depending on the demand and style of music for each holiday.
I often say that I would not be qualified to select the resort’s wine list. Even though I like wine, I do not know enough to make informed budgeting decisions about wine purchasing. By the sametoken, many F&B Directors have a clear vision for how entertainment should drive the guest experience at their resort, but do not have deep expertise in the selection and purchasing of local live entertainment.
At MHW Live Music we draft Entertainment Budgets for our resort clients, encompassing both regularly scheduled weekly activations and special holiday events. We take care to budget for each special holiday (do you know the fair market rate for a Cinco de Mayo Mariachi Band, and how far in advance you need to book them?) and our F&B Director clients can rest assured that their entertainment budget is accurate and fair for the entire upcoming year.
